Blogging and the Wholesale Business Owner
By Sarah Pearson Published: 03/03/2009
Using the Internet has become a way of life for most people, and since most of those people are also consumers (or buyers or B2B buyers), their purchasing process often begins online. If they are looking to buy something, they will look it up online, and if that item happens to fall into your realm of products or services, then you want to be there when they do.
Whether you are just starting out or already have an established company, if you do not yet have a blog, now is the time to strongly consider getting one. Blogging is leveling the playing field when it comes to the internet, since it is easy to get going and often, free – you can use it to establish a very effective and prominent web presence, just like the big corporations, without having the marketing budget of those big corporations. If you use your blog properly, all of a sudden, you've given yourself the opportunity to be seen just as easily and as often as the big guys, and all it takes is some time and dedication.
To make your blog as effective as possible, you need to fill it with relevant content. The content should be related to whatever products or services your own company offers, but you'll find that the more personality you let shine through, the more readers you will end up with. Talk about the latest news in your industry, review some of the products you sell and like, comment on things that interest you, write how-to guides and buying guides related to your products – whatever you want to do. Just make sure it's relevant and thoughtful, and you're partway there.
The next part is to update that content frequently (at least twice a week). This is for several reasons – one, it will keep your readers coming back. They will lose interest if there isn't anything new to read often enough. Two, it will boost your rankings in the search engines, which is what is going to let you be there when that consumer we mentioned up there starts his or her buying process. The search engine spiders love blog content, and they will keep boosting your blog up in the ranks the more often you update.
If you want an easy and inexpensive way to promote your business, your brand and your image, you can't go wrong with blogging.
